Travel & Venue

Given the uncertain Corona situation, we are monitoring possible travel restrictions, but are currently planning for an in-person event. For those delegates who cannot travel, we also plan to stream talks.

Venue:

If things go as planned, the conference will take place at Unipark Nonntal, Erzabt-Klotz-Str 1. This is close to bus stops Justizgebäude, where bus lines 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 25 stop. It is also within very easy walking distance of the old town (about 10 minutes to the cathedral). Busses 3, 5, 6 and 25 will take you directly from the main station to bus stop Justizgebäude.

How to get to Salzburg:

Salzburg is on the train line between Munich and Vienna. There is at least one train per hour in either direction. (see www.oebb.at and www.bahn.de).

If you are travelling by car, please remember that in order to use the motorway in Austria, you need to pay a toll charge. You can buy the badge at petrol stations along the motorway south of Munich.

Salzburg has its own airport; moreover, the airports in Munich and Vienna are within easy reach. Trains from Vienna Airport take about 3 hours (see www.oebb.at); trains from Munich Airport round about the same time (see www.bahn.de).

Salzburg Airport is very close to town; bus line 2 takes you to the main station; no 10 to the town centre (https://www.salzburg-airport.com/en/flights-arrival/arrival-to-the-airport/public-transportation/).

Public transport in Salzburg:

Salzburg has an extensive O-Bus system. Tickets are available at the ‘Trafik’ (news agents) all over town (there is one in the departure hall at the airport and one in the main station), or at machines at selected bus stops. (Paying the bus driver directly is possible but more expensive.) You can choose between single tickets and 24-h tickets, which need to be time-stamped on the bus.
